How to Fix Date Issues in Power BI?
In this article, we will guide you on how to import date data into Power BI and manage dates in different formats.

You can download the sample dataset at https://bit.ly/thdate
First, we need to understand the Date data type in Power BI. If you look at the Data Pane on the right side of Power BI, you will see the options for different date hierarchies.

If you want to create a Date Table, you can check it out here https://davoy.tech/working-with-dates-in-power-bi/
In Power BI and Excel, we can use Power Query to import data, and this tool will help us transform dates. To learn more about what Power Query is, read this article.https://davoy.tech/what-is-power-query/
Change Type with Locale
For the first method, we will use something called “Change Type with Locale.” You can left-click on the column header and select “Using Locale…” or right-click on the column and choose “Change Type > Using Locale.”

For dates where the month comes before the day, especially when using numerical values, we recommend using English (United States).

For general dates written as Day Month Year or with month names in English, we recommend using English (Singapore).

We hope this article covers the various date issues you might encounter in Power BI or Excel. You can download the .pbix file from this folder to explore further.
After converting the data to the Date Type, you will see the format according to your system settings. However, you can also choose to format it as per your system’s settings.
